Ban on gas-powered leaf blowers is in effect!

A permanent ban on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers by commercial landscapers in Arlington took effect on March 15, 2025.

Arlington's 2022 bylaw, approved by Town Meeting, mandated a phase-out of gas-powered leaf blowers that began with a seasonal ban, effective March 15, 2023. The ban on noncommercial residents’ use of gas-powered leaf blowers took effect on March 15, 2026. The bylaw allows the continued use of electric leaf blowers within certain hours. Key Dates :

March 15, 2025: Permanent ban for commercial landscapers.

March 15, 2026: Permanent ban for residents.

Reporting Violations 

According to the Town’s Noise Abatement Bylaw, specific information must be submitted with a leaf blower complaint to initiate an investigation. The information and links to necessary forms for reporting violations is listed on p. 2 of the Arlington Permanent Ban on GPLBs
