New bylaw mandates phase-out of GPLBs in Arlington

On March 15, 2023 a new seasonal ban took effect on the use of GPLBs.

A new bylaw approved by Arlington's 2022 Town Meeting  specifies that a seasonal ban will be in effect in the summers of 2023 and 2024.  See the chart below for specific rules regarding the seasonal use of gas powered leaf blowers. More at the Arlington Town website here

For commercial landscapers
As of March 15, 2025 use of gas powered leaf blowers will be prohibited.  

For residents
As of March 15, 2026 use of gas powered leaf blowers will be prohibited.  

Hours and times for use of electric leafblowers 

Commercial landscapers: Monday-Friday 7:30 am-5:30 pm

Residents:  Monday-Friday  7:30 am-5:30 pm, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays 8 am-6 pm
